ABOUT MAYA HEART FOUNDATION FOR BETTER CHANGE WITH COMPASSION
Maya Heart Foundation UK is a survivor-led charity dedicated to ending child sexual abuse, supporting victims, and fighting online trafficking across the United Kingdom and the Philippines.

Founded by Dr Marieta "Maya" D. Monta. Maya is the first Filipino in the UK to establish a charity specifically helping rape victims in the Philippines and the United Kingdom. She is also a survivor and humanitarian advocate, and our mission is rooted in lived experience and driven by a commitment to justice, healing, and prevention. We work to protect vulnerable children through a whole-system approach that integrates education, early intervention, and long-term support.

Our programmes align with the UK Government’s Tackling Child Sexual Abuse Strategy and involve future collaboration with safeguarding partners, including law enforcement, and partnership with the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), local authorities, NCDV, NUPFC, and faith groups. Through trauma-informed care and community outreach, we aim to prevent abuse before it occurs and support survivors at every stage of recovery.

Maya Heart Foundation is more than a charity; it is a movement to break the silence, hold offenders accountable, and build safer communities. From awareness campaigns and shelter services to training frontline professionals, we are creating lasting change, one child, one voice, and one story at a time.

FOUNDER STORY
Dr Marieta D. Monta, known as "Maya", the first Filipino in the UK to create this charity Foundation for a great cause. She was born on 4 May 1976 in Dipag 1, Manuel Guianga Tugbok, Davao City, Philippines, and is one of 11 siblings. Her early years were marked by hardship, including abuse by a family member at age eight.
At 13, Maya left her village seeking a better life and moved to the Middle East in 1997 to support her siblings. By 1999, she had relocated to the UK, working as a nanny and housekeeper.
After marrying a Filipino-British citizen, Maya’s husband sadly died of liver cancer in 2006 the day after their wedding, she faced unimaginable challenge that nearly cause her life.
Despite these traumatic experiences, Maya has channelled her pain into a mission to help others.

News & Update

Maya Heart Foundation team have the initiatives and expertise in addressing the rising number of children sexually abused by British nationals in both the UK and the Philippines. Jess Phillips MP Minister for Safeguarding has informed us that the UK has previously worked and is currently working on this issue in the Philippines, but efforts were limited due to lack of resources and there is still a gap that needs to be addressed, which can be filled by Maya Heart Foundation.

To help address the gap identified during our meeting with the British Government, the Maya Heart Foundation team and our volunteers had a progressive zoom meeting with the office of the Vice President of the Philippines on 30th July 2025. The Senior staff of the Vice President has referred and directed us to the right department to assist our mission. We have successfully had a meeting with Philippines Ambassador Teodoro L Locsin and fully supports the MHF mission in the Philippines.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the Philippines, as the British government will help us to bring a resolution to this problem. We look forward to the opportunity to discuss how we can move forward to protect vulnerable children and strengthen collaboration between both countries to address this issue that has not been given a priority in the Philippines.

EMPOWERING CHILDREN ACROSS THE WORLD
Our sister charity, Maya’s Organisation Philippines, extends this vision worldwide, breaking the silence on abuse and bringing hope to vulnerable children.
